Guldsmed Mejrup maj 2008

In the gap between subject and object lies the entire misery of humankind.
- J. Krishnamurti

If you look closely at thoughts moment by moment, you will see that the thoughts are not generated by a conceptual “I” at all. “You” actually do not create the next thought. It appears and the mind steps in and erroneously interprets that the thought was generated by the phantom character called “I”. There is no such entity present.
- John Wheeler

Boundary lines, of any type, are never found in the real world itself, but only in the imagination of the mapmakers.
- Ken Wilber

There is nothing more important to true growth than realizing that you are not the voice of the mind – you are the one who hears it.
- Michael A. Singer

Nothing matters so much that we should throw ourselves into a state of panic about it. No happening is so important that we should let ourselves be exiled from inner peace and mental calm for its sake.
- Paul Brunton

Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?
- Lao-tzu

My life is a succession of events, just like yours. Only I am detached and see the passing show as a passing show, while you stick to things and move along with them.
- Sri Nisargadatta

Many of our ideas and beliefs about ourselves and the world are so deeply ingrained that we are unaware that they are beliefs and take them, without question, for the absolute truth.
- Rupert Spira

I confused things with their names. That is belief.
- Jean-Paul Sartre

A human being… experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest… a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison.
- Albert Einstein

The world exists only when we think about it; creation stories are for children. In reality the world is created every moment.
- Jean Klein

You can only be lost if you are trying to get somewhere.
- Ram Tzu

Sounds appear. But who hears them? Thoughts appear. But who thinks them? We say: “I hear the sounds. I think the thoughts.” But what is this I who hears and thinks? Are there really TWO things – ‘you’ and ‘life’? Or is there simply the unitary movement of Life, which has no opposite? Is there just the ONE thing, which is no-thing at all? Does Life have a centre – or was it all a dream?
- Jeff Foster

We sit together, the mountain and me, until only the mountain remains.
- Li Po

The only thing that can stop you from feeling happiness is you. To continue to look outside for something that is already inside only serves to distract you from looking within.
- Jac O’keeffe

No one has ever been angry at another human being – we’re only angry at our story of them.
- Byron Katie
